“…and in their triumph die like fire and powder, which as they kiss consume.”

This quote points to the fact that the only time/place they will actually be able to be together is when they are dead. When fire and powder touch they explode so that part indicates that their families may not react well and they might ‘explode’ or become enraged. It might be referring to how when they kiss they are ignoring their families and accepting that they might never stop the rivalry and hatred for the other family.
