“…I defy you stars!” – Romeo

One word that I find interesting in this quote is the word ‘defy’. This is because it can mean to appear to be  challenging someone to prove something. In this text that would refer to how Romeo has just been told that Juliet is dead and how he wants to challenge the stars. In the time this was written they strongly believed in fate.

This is a significant quote because it is where Romeo starts to fall off the rails even more because he thinks his love has just died.
